We’re back! (Well… almost)

You’re looking at the beginning of a new home for ShamrockReunions.com!

You’re probably wondering what happened to the old site. Basically, the reunion site was OLD; at least, the content management system on which it was based. The site was moved to a new server with all-new coding and functionality…. and it broke. There was no sense in fixing it, so it was taken down until a new home for its almost 2,000-strong alumni membership could be developed.

So, what do we want the new SHS site to look like? And what do we want to do here? Post your suggestions in the comments below!

  1. Awesome! Can’t wait until it is up and running again! I hope that we can have a chat room again. That was fun! (I couldn’t make it work for the last 18 months or so, but I think it had something to do with my system.) Let me know what I can do to help! ~~Susie

  2. Would be nice to have updated pics on the home page. Maybe from the most recent reunion and other gatherings that we have had. I concur w/ Susie.

  3. I’m waiting with bated breath for the new site to come back online!
As Susie and Steve mentioned, reviving the chat room would be fun AND updating reunion and casual get-to pics in one place again would be entertaining, to say the least!
Bringing the Shamrock folks and their news and photos back here (and away from the convoluted mess that is “that other website’s” newsfeed) will be fantastic!
My only request is that the old forums be imported. There were many posts from SHS’s alumni over the last few years who, unfortunately, are no longer with us. I don’t want to lose their stories!
Thanks for still working on this beautiful site! You’re the best.

  4. Looking forward to the new website! Thanks to everyone who is working to get it up and running. -CC

  5. I am thankful you have decided to bring it back! I love all the suggestions from other posters. I would also like to see the memorial page so that we can keep up with that too.

The chat room was a blast but we MUST come up with ways to get the people involved to make that work too. We use to have a bunch each night then it dropped off. I am hoping that we can get the site back up and the participation back to a “worthy” amount. It will take ALL of us to make sure the site is being used and promoted. The other media sources are great but like Mona said, convoluted.

Thanks Bob, you are the BOMB!

  6. Can’t wait to have the site back up & running. Missed checking in on everyone!!

  7. We can do another social networking site where you can create a profile, post in a forum, message other users, publish a photo gallery, etc.

OR… we can do an archive, where there is no member participation except the ability to submit images and other Shamrock-related stuff. In that case, the site would primarily be a repository for anything related to our time at the school.

  8. I firmly believe that some sort of interaction amongst the alumni is necessary – not just a robotic dumping of photos. If there is no interaction, who would know/remember to come to the site and look around? Give those of us who continually check on this site try to rally our former classmates … OK? 🙂

    1. Totally agree that interaction capability is better. I also realize that means some means of monitoring as before but I know I for one would gladly volunteer to assist in that. Without the ability to interact with each other as before, I too am afraid the lack of interest, input and use would be in vein.

  9. I hope we still have the old forums backed up somewhere. Only suggestion is to make it nessasary to log in in order to read the forums. We can feel more comfortable about telling stories about our youth indiscretions……Oh yeah….maybe a spell check if possible.
Thank you Bob for all you have done for us!

  10. I think it would be nice to be able to have interaction with each other. I like keeping up with others from my time in the wonderful halls of old Shamrock. We don’t know how good we had it. I share the positive times there with my “grown” children. They did not have the good times we did as times changed. Please bring the site back.

  11. I’m with Suzie about the chat and mona about the old post . especially from people that have passed.

maybe a link to the SHS Facebook page so post there will cross post here..

and as Amy Turner Sutherland said on Facebook What about a list of alumni with businesses that we can use/support?

but ill add that they wouldne just have to own a business but could also promote the place they work at

  12. I was wondering…what happened to all the old postings from the original website…were they lost, or do they still exist? Will they come back, or are they just another part of our past memories? I would be very sad to think that we’ve lost all those old archives. Here’s hoping Bob still has all the goodies!

    1. I will take into consideration everybody’s suggestions and desires when I redesign the site. Some things, however, I may not be able to do. I am moving the site to a different content management system, so some of the old data may not be compatible. Also, the old site completely crashed so, if I am able to save the old forum posts, it will be after I dig them out of the database. That is high on my priorities list, but not easy.

  13. Your username and password from the old site will not work. Create a new user account so you’ll be ready when I add new features.

  14. Had not realized the old site crashed. Didn’t think it was that long ago I was on it. Glad to see up and running now will try to be more active. Thanks for all the work.
